I have a OCZ SATA III SSD which I had windows boot from usually, which for some reason 6 months later without warning has decided not to be recognised by my PC. Everything else seems to register, like my 1TB HDD but since the SSD isn't reading I can't boot up my PC, basically. I've looked at the drive itself and it's showing an orange light, which apparently either means it's shit itself or isn't being recognised. I pulled the power out from it and reconnected and it was green again for a while but has since gone back to being orange so I really stumped. Can a SSD give up even at barely half a year old?
Hey Sketch, bust out the ShinraOnline credit card and buy me a new computer. I need it for modding and email. My current computer cannot do modding and emailing, those are very demanding applications. The new Alienware X51 looks boss, but the specs are shit. Looks like a console. Trying to make PCs more lie consoles.
Yeah SSD's can crap out at the most random times. I've learned not to trust OCZ in the storage department. I had to return 2 in a row because they both Blue Screened from a shot boot drive, brand new out of the box, different manufacturing dates even. Now I use a Corsair Force 3, and ive never had any troubles or lowered performance.
Balls. I really don't have the money to spend on another large size SSD, I'll just set my OS up on my HDD and use my 1TB portable WD as back-up or something.
i used my SSD as a boot drive and execute my other drives through it. I only use it for patches and and updates so that i can wipe and restore it more efficiently without massive backups being required.
I've been reading online and wasn't aware these were known for being so troublesome, even explains a lot of glitches my PC has been having since I put it together - blue screens every now and then, the much more common freezing and lock up, - all apparently things this SSD is supposedly guilty of.
Yeah they were saying the sandforce controllers are a big issue here: http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=990602
