The Soapbox Charter (effective Jan 2010)

Welcome to The Soapbox. The rules in here are simple:

1. Don't Be a Dick
This means no flaming or trolling, no ad hominem arguments, and no mockery of other members for any reason. Arguing vehemently against their opinions is just dandy, but as soon as it becomes personal it's gonna get shut down.

2. Post With a Purpose
Posts in this forum should contain tangible content. Do not spam. Do not be overly vague - if you reply to a thread, be specific in your remarks; no one should have to second guess what you're talking about. Do not make threads which consist of a one-liner or a single link to a news article and nothing more - it is a requirement of this forum that if you create a thread, you need to start it off with some questions or discussion points.

3. Use Your Head
This forum is for focused discussion, and as a result it is highly recommended that you have at least superficial knowledge of a subject before participating in a thread. You are welcome, nay encouraged, to post in and learn from topics you're not well-versed in, but a 'fake it til you make it' posting philosophy is unacceptable here.

That's pretty much all there is to it. The rest is all common sense stuff, like if you're quoting a statistic / article / etc you need to make sure you provide a link to your source.

The moderator of this forum will serve as the only necessary interpreter of these rules and will edit / move / delete things or hand out warnings at her discretion if you break them - no backseat modding :v
