Hi, I'm your friendly neighborhood administrator, Ambient Rush, aka nox hyped up on steroids.

With new management comes new rules and *gasp*, here they are.

    1. No flaming.
    2. No trolling.
    3. No completely brainless spamming.

If anyone has to use their mod powers to enforce any of these rules, you get a bump up in your warning bar. The negative content itself will either be moved to Sad Hour or deleted at the mods discretion.
Arguing about Administration actions off topic as posts or threads is also ruled as spam and will be treated in the same way. PM if you must.

Otherwise, the Shinra Bar is a place where you can bullshit and chit chat about anything.

The main difference between the Shinra Bar and Happy Hour is the fact that the Shinra Bar allows for serious discussions while the Happy Hour is more light hearted and spammy. Just because it allows for serious discussion, it doesn't mean every thread has to be all SUPER SRS.

If you have questions, feel free to shut the fuck up.

    Thanks!

Because you can't get enough of that internet relay chatting. Comes complete with friendly host, The Professor. Who can say no to that?

    SHINRA AIM CHAT

The most wildest and hilarious conversations would go on down in Shinra Chat on AIM, so we're bringing the old institution back.

If you want to be added to Shinra Chat whenever it revs up, drop your AIM name in this thread.

Alternatively, you can invite yourself to "Shinra Chat" whenever you want, but be warned, the Shinra Chat can be like your arthritus, herpes, morning sickness, self control and cat - it comes and goes whenever it pleases.

    Wiki

Shinra has gotten it's own wiki now and to kick-start this thing we're going to have a competition on who it is that makes the best articles, member profiles or whatever.

    Link

    Rules
    - No vandalism on other articles. We are able to get your IPs after you've edited something.
    - If you want your own member profile frozen, or rolled back, let me know, I can do it.
    - Have fun, this isn't anything serious like wikipedia.

The best articles will be given XP and maybe even moved to the front page.

Be sure to create your own account before starting any articles, it's easier to find out who made the articles then.

    Explanation of the Warning System

It seems some people are having a problem understanding how the warning system works. I have decided to explain this for the curious.

As you may have noticed, there is a small meter at the bottom of your postbit with the label "warn".

Each time you break a rule on this website, a moderator may private message you first to advise you to stop. If this goes ignored, you will have your warning percentage on your warn bar increased. Acts like spamming in forums you are not meant to will give you a 10% increase. Intentionally posting NSFW material may give you a 20-30% increase. If you have a history of breaking the same rule, there may not even be a private message sent and your rating will just be adjusted.

Each warning increase should be accompanied with a small log message written by the moderator about why the percentage has been adjusted.

When you reach certain percentage increments, the following will happen:
    • At 40% warning, you will be temporarily banned for 2 days.
    • At 70% warning, you will be temporarily banned for 2 weeks.
    • At 100% warning, you will be completely banned.

This does not go all one way, however. If a member is noted by a moderator contributing to the forum board positively, their warning percentage may be lowered.

The warning system was implemented by Shinra Online to give both fairer treatment to members, and to make sure that members who chose to keep disobeying forum rules will be punished.

The Administration hopes this clears up any confusion. :china:

    Social groups 2009

The Social Group function was momentarily closed during the board shift but I just thought I'd let you know it's back up, with community message functions and picture galleries back in tact.

    http://www.shinraonline.com/board/group.php

If you choose to make a social group, PLEASE give it an icon/image. It's simple and the board automatically resizes for you. Without one, the group looks all messed up in the index with description text filling in the space.

    Go nuts. :hilary:
