    The D-Pad Rules/FAQ Thread
Obligatory rules/FAQ thread. New era of Shinra, new rules of conduct for the various forums.

    General Conduct
    --------------------

    ✙ Discussions:
Be civil and courteous in threads. Just because somebody has a varying opinion, doesn't give you the right to attack their intelligence - only their taste. When it comes to a debate, it helps to give ratrionale to your posts for the sake of the topic. "I'm right"/"You're wrong" without that support will be regarded as spam or trolling and treated as such.

    ✙ Trolling:
The D-Pad is a particularly difficult section of the forums to simply say: “No trolling,” as merely discussing various console topics could easily be misconstrued as an attempted troll. There is also an inherent favoritism towards one console over another for most (not all) people. So someone could assume a poster was trolling when in fact they were just passionately expressing their thoughts. So troll accusations will need to be settled on a case-by-case basis.

    ✙ Flaming:
Gamers can become very passionate about a game or console of choice. Try to conduct yourself in a reasonable manner. Obviously there will be heated discussions concerning certain topics. Just don't wind up acting like the 12-year olds who frequent XboxLive and Playstation Network.

    ✙ Spam:
    Simple: Stay on topic!

    + Help!:

    GameFAQs www.gamefaqs.com
User-posted strategies, FAQS and secrets as well as cheats and maps for almost any game you ever needed help on.

    + Gaming News:

    IGN www.ign.com
A long-standing pioneer site with a large amount of interviews, videos, information and (if you pay the right price) guides. Membership required for some stuff.

    Joystiq www.joystiq.com
A simply-navigated, fast-updated collection of mostly news items concerning games. It also covers game-related media; for example, I found an amusing article titled "South Park's World of Warcraft episode gets Emmy nomination".

    Kotaku www.kotaku.com
Gamer-run, gamer-maintained site with mostly up to date news. Kind of an annoying layout, though. Just my opinion

+ Media (Trailers, gameplay videos, etc.)

    Jeux-France www.jeux-france.com
Very up-to-date and often hard-to-find videos and news on up and coming games, hope you can read French.

    Gamespot www.gamespot.com
One of the sites with a larger collection of trailers and gameplay vids, including over 150 items from E3 alone.

    + Reviews, Previews

    Gamespot www.gamespot.com
Not to be redundant, but Gamespot is renowned for its very critical yet comprehensive reviews of most releases. Their previews setup is nice because each game has its own page with links to all news and video updates concerning it.

    Gamespy www.gamespy.com
Reviews on Gamespy are on a five-star basis but the information they provide is worth your read. Please remember, don't let anyone be the final judge of a game but yourself.

    Gamewinners http://www.gamewinners.com
Reviews, previews, cheats, tips and strategy. RufusShinraOfShinRa suggested it, thank you for the addition.

    + Game-related humor

    Ctrl-Alt-Del www.ctrlaltdel-online.com
Two gaming roommates. One is a normal guy the other is a crazy ass that built a robot out of his Xbox.

    Looking For Group www.lfgcomic.com
Brought to you by the genius behind Least I Could Do. It's a WoW themed comic although you don't have to play WoW to find it hilarious.

    Penny Arcade www.penny-arcade.com
Long-running and infamous webcomic about two guys that love games. Good art, sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's meh.

    VGCats www.vgcats.com
Gaming jokes, in furry form! Really though, this one's pretty funny, although not very often updated.

    Little Gamers www.little-gamers.com
Simple art style with some witty cracks about games, their developers and the people who play them.

    Newgrounds www.newgrounds.com
A flash database with a lot of videos about games, as well as parodies and ones you can play yourself. Also some game-unrelated material.

    + Games for you!

    Gamefly www.gamefly.com
The netflix of gaming. Reliable, easy to use and with a wide variety of games to choose from.

    Gametap www.gametap.com
You can play 'em right on your computer, but for titles you actually want, you'll have to pay.

If you have any suggestions to be added to this list, PM your local mod. :)

IMPORTANTWe do not support Gaming Piracy and will not allow the addition of any links related to ROMs and emulators. Thanks.
