No. Like I said. A. Very few enemies can handle Thor (Like you can count them on your fingers). B. His only weaknesses are (Destroying a practically invincible hammer, destroying a practically invincible body, or arrogance). SO basically Thor can patrol the world 99% of the time, and 1% he might need the Avengers to assist. The problem with the "ZOMG, but Thor CAN die if the hammer is crushed" thing is it's all-or-nothing. It's not like you can crack mjolner and weaken Thor. It's either you don't destroy it and lose, or you kill Thor (Which will never happen). Or it will be retconned like Odin appears in a ghostly silhouette and repairs the hammer and restores Thor's life.
Look at the thread title - The Avengers. Let me bring up this quote again: You said he was powered up. Wrong. You said he can handle any threat himself. Wrong. The point of the Avengers is that they combat enemies stronger than any of them individually. I just gave you an example two posts ago about how Thor in the current Fear Itself event was basically wiped out of a fight for trying to take on two worthy solo, while the rest of the Avengers together are banding together. Yes, Thor is a very powerful character but he's not invincible as Supes is and he doesn't render the Avengers useless. Once again THEEEEE END.
Thor is 'not nearly invincible' as Superman!? Except, ya know, to Kryptonite, Magic, Lack of Yellow Sun, Over-exposure to Yellow Sunlight, Opponents who are stronger (Doomsday, Darkseid, etc.), Red Sunlight, etc. Yeah, with that laundry list of weaknesses, he's totally "more invincible" than Thor. You think that's "invincible" but then you say Thor (Who shares only 1 of those vulnerabilities and is invulnerable to basically everything else) isn't that strong. Why do you think Thor's main enemy is Loki? Because they only thing he can successful hurt on Thor is his feelings with his mindgames.
Uh, I'm sure I said in my post about Thor's powers that he has high resilience. Big difference from being completely invunerable to something. Look Jimmy if you're not going to read my posts properly I'm going to take my shop elsewhere, gosh.
And like I said, how many people can actually push him to that limit. Yes, he has a limit. But it's so far up there it doesn't matter. Might as well not even be there.
Completely wrong, there's a whole bunch of higher tier cosmic powered characters that could. Thanks for also posting a picture of how pointlessly god mode Superman is.
NEW FULL LENGTH AVENGERS TRAILER NEW FULL LENGTH AVENGERS TRAILER NERD THE FUCK OUT FAP FAP FAP http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/marvel/avengers/
Seems too Michae Bay-y for my taste. I honestly thought I had accidentally clicked a transformers trailer for the first 30 seconds of that. Also "If we can't save the world, you'll be damn sure we'll avenge it." There is no emoticon powerful enough to groan this pathetic line!
And we're playing the fued! The "Hi I'm A Marvel" "Hi I'm A DC" clips are clearly forthcoming. Just for the record I like good comic book movies and I hate shitty ones, I really don't care which company is making them.
I just feel like this is what's gonna happen: Iron Man, as the most popular of the solo film franchises and the biggest star of the film (Downey Jr.) will get the most screen time. To the point this could basically be called "Iron Man 3: Iron Man has Friends!". Thor and Cap will take the next chunk of screen time (Far reduced than Iron Man) as they had successful film runs (Although not as successful as IM). And then Hawkeye, ScarJo, and New Hulk Guy will essentially have cameos (Probably would have been different if Eddy Norton was Banner).
Actually apparently Robert Downey Jr filmed his part in 6 weeks. Then again, you have to factor in the CGI of when he'd be in the full Iron Man suit, so for that he'd just need to do some voice work. Maybe some mo' cap? Despite your silly exaggeration of Black Widow and Hawkeye being nothing but cameos, I agree with you on the fact that they'll use Iron Man prominently in things like trailers and promotional stuff to draw people in - but there's no way they'd have him dominate the film itself. It's an ensemble cast, so I'd see him having as much screen time as Cap for sure.
Well, see therein lies the problem. It's 'supposed' to be an ensemble movie, but will they be able to actively balance it? I may be exaggerating a bit, but I guarantee you one of those characters (If not more) is gonna get the shaft in terms of prominence in the film.
The trailer looks great, but I'm left to wonder why Thor is about to strike down Cap. If there are any characters that are likely to get prominence in this film it's going to be Cap, Iron Man and Thor because they're the Avengers Prime.
Hulk should still get some time, even though he probably won't. He's both the team's strongest asset and biggest weakness. Double-edged sword. Hulk shoulda been the main 'villain'. Do the story where Banner wants desperately to help his buddies but just ends up fucking things up. Hey Sketch . . . "If this movie sucks, you'll be damn sure The Dark Knight Rises will avenge it."
Here's the second Marvel "one shot" mini film which follows Agent Coulson on his way to Thor's Hammer, which will be on the Captain America DVD release: http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/168652-watch-the-full-new-marvel-one-shot-short-film
