Jumping off from the old future Marvel film thread, since I think it's time this flick got it's own. And what better way than this story straight from Comic Con 2010 via Marvel.com: So while it was just recently known Renner was tapped to play Hawkeye, Ruffalo is definitely confirmed as Banner now by this. All that's left is wondering who will be playing Wasp and Pym, or if they'll even have parts in the film, after Whedon saying himself that 'Ant-Man' wouldn't have much of a role in the film (but between the lines, that may mean Pym still might).
Let's just assume Ant Man and Wasp are in it, or at least Hank and Jan are, as there's still an Ant Man movie on the docket. Question now is if this is the whole ensemble or if we're getting more characters (Vision, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch ect) or if this will be more of the Ultimates lineup.
I could easily do without Scarlet and Quicksilver tbh. Vision... eh. I like the Young Avengers version of Vision much more than the classic one. Give me some Tigra, baby!
I think the issue with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch will be which studio has the rights to the character - Fox for XMen or Paramount/Marvel Studios for Avengers. I think Vision is key to the Avengers but at the same time he's linked to Ultron, we have no idea if he'll be a villain in this movie or in a later one. I wanted to bring up some of the additional Avengers like Tigra, Wonder Man, Falcon, heck even Namor (since he'll be in Captain America), but at the same I acknowledge that there's only so many characters you can have in the movie.
Some plot/villian speculation off of IGN: 1. Hulk This ones being going around for two years now so to rehash for shits and giggles - the first Ultimates story arc had the team taking down the Hulk (who Loki was controlling) just to get him on board and under control, potentially you could have the first half of the movie being said hunt and the second half being using him to thwart a bigger threat to humanity. 2. Skrulls Apparently the interwebs have been abound with rumors that it'll be a Skrull invasion the Avengers have to contend with, which as we recall was the second story arc in Ultimate Avengers. 3. The Infinity Gauntlet Apparently the Gauntlet will be featured in Thor, it could pop up again, they could have to deal with Thanos. But as IGN notes it's a story that might be "too big" for one movie. 4. The Mandarin They list it but even they say it's a long shot and he should be left for Iron Man to deal with in the third movie. And of course it could still be something completely different.
Mark Ruffalo On Going Green One other point that everyone seems to be overlooking amidst all this - I would assume this means Mark is secured for the next Hulk sequel correct? Mind you much like with Iron Man 3 I think it's safe to say that it won't be happening until after the Avengers, but still.
I hope we get a newer incarnation (hopefully drawing from the smarter Hulk of the 90s comic, or even the possibility of the multiple Hulk personalities surfacing: gray, Maestro...) cause dumb hulk has been pretty played out now. They still have some loose threads such as Ty Burrell as Sampson and Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader left over from Incredible, so hopefully they'll jump from there. As for possible villains, it'd be possible for anybody that turns up in Cap or Thor to re-emerge, so I'd add Loki in there, maybe some Baron Zemo and the Masters of Evil, maybe some KANG THE CONQUEROR? (heh).
It's supposed to be The Leader next, or at least that's the way Louis Leterrier had intented it (but then again he's been on again/off again as the attached director for the last two years). I'd like to see one more Hulk movie, doesn't have to be spectacular just so long as it's nowhere near as crappy as Ang Lee's movie, and using Grey Hulk could prove intriguing.
That trailer made me think of the Fantastic Four. Looks like they just did a mirror-image of the FanFour logo. As for the New Hulk cast, I'm not so sure about Ruffalo. I just don't see him fitting as Bruce Banner. But I am jaded cause I thought Norton was the premiere pick for Hulk, like Downey Jr. for Stark.
Just reading through this potential villains list on IGN, nothing we haven't really hashed out already, but it notes that Marvel Studios said that Hank Pym won't be in the first Avengers movie. I'd say it's now safe to assume that Jan won't be either.
Ruffalo will actually be playing the Hulk: So this will be the first time an actor has actually portrayed the Hulk since Lou Ferigno.
Weird, Chris looks different facially. Outfit looks decent though, the helmet he wears completes the look though.
