Judging from that picture he's gonna have a shitload of work to bulk up to Spider-Man weight. Also this situation reminds me of Entourage, like this is a Vincent Chase nobody who got a big superhero franchise and is about to cash in big.
Why is it a reboot? What. The. Fuck! We're not starting all over again are we? Why can't they just continue with what the last story was? And again, what the fuck, I'm nearly certain I read that Toby said he would love to do another ---what happened to that???? Because Raimi was no longer interested or something? I'm a little depressed about it. Well, the least they could do for me is make sure they get a SMOKIN' HOT red head for MJ. She's hawt you know. (even in the comic). ~K.
Toby always hated Spider-Man, even though it made his career something people will actually remember .He feels he should be doing artsy-fartsy movies and he's too good for this genre. But yeah, Dunst and McGuire have constantly bitched and moaned about this franchise. Honestly, I don't mind seeing them go. There are actors out there that are THRILLED toplay their roles (Like Downey Jr. in Iron Man) so best to get people who are willing to put effort into it.
There are also some claims going around that due to Garfields age they're going to make it about Peter's college years instead of high school. .....................which was pretty much the timeframe for the original series also. In fact you had a 27 year old Tobey Macguire (same age as Garfield) playing a high school senior for just about the first hour of the first movie. And we're now left to ask once again - why the fuck do we need a reboot and why now?
I also heard rumours it's gonna be in Peter Parker's college years. Andrew Garfield was in 'The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus' (the film 90% of people went to see because of Heath Ledger)
Because series restarts in general, due to their being actual good movies, have largely been successful (Batman, 007, etc.) therefore movie execs (and probably a good chunk of movie goers) automatically assume reboots = great success.
Not thrilled about the "reboot" idea so I'll probably not see it in theaters and leave it as a rental. If they would make it just a random spiderman flick with new people, I'd find that more interesting.
Rumor has it that Hillary Duff is in the running to play the lead female, who as of this moment is simply being listed as "girl". Most don't expect Mary Jane to be in this one so the odds obviously would favor Gwen Stacy or Felica Hardy.
No no NO NO NO Get fucking Hilary Duff the hell out of my Spider-Man movies, bitches. They should go with Gwen Stacy IMO. Maybe one of the newer love interests from the comics, like Carlie Cooper. Or Betty Brant, they dated for a while. Jean DeWolfe is a curveball... though she was a policewoman. I'd love to see some Felicia Hardy but it's hard to see her be introduced as the main girl. It took 20 years for her to shake being just the flighty sexpot 'other' woman, but it's firmly part of her original personality.
I'd rather see Gwen Stacy to start, possibly setting up "The Night Gwen Stacy Died" (and yeah I know that the last segment of the first movie was more or less based on it, but lets see the version where the love interest bites it), but eventually I'd like to see MJ in the series, and as previously noted as long as we're going back to square one then there's no excuse to not give us the "Face it tiger you just hit the jackpot" scene.
The way MJ was introduced in the comics was actually really fun - also followed in the more recent Spectacular cartoons.
lol Hilary Duff. Is this Disney's fault after they acquired Marvel (Duff being former (current?) Disney property)?
