Rotisserie chicken. Fries. Rolls. Vegetables. Wtf is this sauce? Canadians come celebrate everybody's favorite national chicken chain; the best family restaurant on the planet, Swiss Chalet.
The hickory rotisserie chicken flatbread is awesome. So is the poutine/pierogi/spring rolls. We don't have a Swiss Chalet where I live, so whenever I am in the city it's where I eat.
The poutine is with their special sauce right? You think the poutine is good? I'm really reluctant to try it. The chicken and fries are so good by themselves! Dunno what St.-Hubert is but I thought Swiss Chalet was everywhere back East. Is it not popular in Quebec?
It's not the dipping sauce that is on it (the option is there though), they use gravy. They put a lot of curds on it, the fries stay crispy. I've never been to a St. Hubert, but a branded gravy mix I've tried was excellent (as far as powdered gravy packets go).
I remember a Chalet Suisse in Québec on blvd Hamel a long time ago. It's probably still there. As far as I know however, they are only in the Montréal suburbs. I've never been there but was intrigued on more than one occasion.
That's like basing your Australian knowledge on that one visit you made in Perth. (Perth is a terrible Australian city, right?)
It's okay, it's a bit isolated as a city. Lots of really hot women seem to come from there, but when I was there at the age of 14 I was so bored. Plus I was staying with a family friend's parents, who was a school headmistress. So my general impression ends with me in a fetal position sobbing.
Here, the further north you go from the border the less Americanized it gets. Words with `ar` in them get funnier the further east you go. My French-English keyboard just kicked in. Ohoho.
I work with a couple of teachers from Newfoundland. When they hear the expression "N-word", they always think we're talking about Newfies.
I don't know... Hamilton is pretty awful too. All cities have ghettos, but Hamilton is basically 70% ghetto. YAY for Swiss Chalet! I love their dipping sauce, and their fries are amazing! AND they deliver, how awesome is that!
