So I just made Jeeves finally, leaving my last major trial to becoming a bonafide engineer finally putting together my Mechanohog motorbike. I have everything except for a few chrome pipes or whatever that you buy from K3 in Storm Peaks. Translation, I need about 7k gold.

What's a good way and quick way to amass some gold? If the answer is the AH, well give me some tips on what sells and what's in demand.

man if I knew the secret...a rl friend of mine who played WoW racked up about 90k gold in about two months of playing the auction house with flasks and shit back in WOTLK. he cut out any sort of middle man and farmed his own mats every day, a few hours a day in the mornings, so it would be 100% profit. he was nuts and it was summer time.

    Haha

A friend of mine actually bought like 10k gold for a small bit of IRL money - he got one of those disposable one-use-only credit card things and used that to pay them. Risky shit though, if you get caught out soliciting that stuff it's a permaban from the game I'm p sure. I'm not that desperate, however.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure if you study a little on what's a niche item that sells well and just corner the market on it, you'd be set as long as you're dilligent. I've never tried it cause I think you'd need some base gold to set up, but the untested theory in my head is buying out all of the lower priced items (let's say wool cloth) and resell them at a higher price, and just make sure whatever other users put back out there at a lower price you just buy right back up and force peeps to pay a higher price. You'd have to watch it like a hawk though.

yeah thats the main thing, the time commitment is insane. he literally spent 2-3 hours every morning farming items, then he would scout the auction house ALL DAY.

every realm is different. you have to figure out what is in short supply and is easy to farm and just go for it!

just remember every realm is different so don't waste too much time reading up on it and go look at the AH

Sounds just like one girl in our guild. She has like over 100k gold. But she was ALWAYS online farming or doing something; she never leaves the computer. I remember she created a new hunter alt last December and that toon already has over 7k achievement points. She's insane.

I've been playing for a year and a half and it took me that long just to get 4600 achievement points *_*

A guildie of mine had two accounts. One main, and the other was a "mule". He'd purchase gold with the mule, then open trade with his main (with two windows open). That's the safest way. Mailing large amount of gold is risky; blizzard will delete it if it sits in the box long enough for them to notice. Happened to me when I sent 2k gold from my main to an alt and left it in the box for about a week, even though I didn't buy any gold.

Did you notify them and get it back?

I'm pretty bad when it comes to achievement points. The most I have on any toon is a little over 3k. But I do have a habit of switching mains too often. I can't stick with one character long enough to accumulate points.

I also think it's a lot easier for her to get achievements because any time she needs help ppl (um, guys) won't hesitate to give her a hand because she's female. If I ask for a favor, ppl either ignore or tell me to fuck off. Well, maybe not telling me off but you get the point lol

No because I no longer cared since I quitted WoW like the next day.

    ...

But I just bought a new 40" LCD tv for my empty guest bedroom and ordered a new desktop so this isn't a good sign for me :x

I have 35k gold from glyphs. i just make every profitable glyph and relist it on the AH every day. I dont play too too much right now, but getting on once a day to make glyphs/relist auctions nets me quite a bit of gold each day.

On my server, cloth sells all day erry day for a decent amount, factoring in the completely minimal efffort it takes a max level character to farm it. Especially profitable are Silk and Runecloth, as you need over 700 of each to powerlevel Tailoring.

Basically get the Auctioneer addon and scan every day. Even if you don't want to play each day, log in for 15 minutes and scan the AH. After you've got a good average baseline, pick an item that has a wide variance in price and start buying them on the weekend when the price is low, and sell them during the week when you can drive the price higher through scarcity. Most of your tradeskill mats like ore, cloth, herbs will fall in this category.

Cornering markets is a lot trickier, and it only works if you pick an item that isn't easy to replenish on the AH or you have a huge bankroll.
