So I'm thinking about getting a new phone and am considering one of the above. I've used other people's iPhones quite a bit, and I'm not entirely sold on it. First I noticed aps constantly freeze up on them, and you have to exit out and relaunch them. Also, I'm an over-grown ass man so my fingers cause recognition problems with the touch screen. I've never used an android, but I am very intrigued. One benefit I see is the Droid2 and it's physical keyboard. And everything else, I have no clue about. The new Windows phone, etc. So would like to get some opinions on owners/users of these phones. Also if you keep up-to-date on the models, will any of them be releasing any newer/better models in the next few months that I should wait for (Like maybe the Motorola Olympus coming in 2011)?
i like my iphone better than my friends' android phone because the auto correct and personal dictionary (if you type doodeeboo a lot, it'll complete it for you) is amazing, and i like the keyboard better. I've had the phone for two years and never had problems with it untl recently BUT that's only because mine is jailbroken, and i'm too lazy to upgrade the firmware and rejailbreak. The problems are that I can't update app's anymore, and it's just slower in performance. MobileSafari kind of sucks but I use Perfect Browser as a replacement, much nicer. I use my phone as my music player too because I never owned an ipod or any other mp3. The phone is just super nice and has a lot of nice features, you can slide left to right to quickly delete text messages or calls, this works into other apps too sometimes I think. the alarm clock is nice, it's just a nice phone get a fucking iphone jimmy ITS PRETTY DUMB GUY PROOF hahahahha JK MAN
On that note, I love my android. I have an ipod touch 3rd gen too, and the comparison is very similar to the mac vs pc debate. It's a lot to do with personalisation. I like my tech to compliment me, and be customisable to my needs. I don't find the grid of apps background particularly easy to use, and apps cost and freeze. However you do get a lot of exclusive apple content, and as previously mentioned the keyboard is pretty good. However, I got a free upgrade of keyboard on my HTC desire that is better. You have to play with an android phone, but once you do it's a really great experience. (I have also never payed for anything on my android, just to put that out there.)
I've never used an android. I have an iphone, but I'm not all OMFG LOOK AT MY IPHONE UUUUUNF *JIZZ* about it. It's just a phone. In regards to not being accurate with the touch screen, you get used to it. I have big fuckin hands. If I palm a 12oz coke can my thumb and middle finger nearly touch. It didn't take me long to get used to the screen. In regards to apps crashing... when I first got mine, it worked fantastic. It's a couple of years old now, and yeah it runs like shit. Apple releases OS updates designed for their newer versions of the phone without any regard to how well the older hardware runs it. I've used a friends iphone 4 and it runs great. I have the same OS on my old 3g and when I open my text messages it can take 15-20 seconds for them to load. I figure they just do it to get you to buy the newer phone. If Android doesn't have that problem, I'd buy it based on that alone, honestly.
Apple does get annoying like that. I remember with my laptop the second the Intel chipsets were released NOTHING worked with the PowerPC G4 chipped computers after that. I'm not thinking of getting the new phone until around Feb-March so I'm somewhat leaning towards getting whatever's new around then (Right now, all I've heard about is the Droid powered Olympus coming out in Q1 of 2011. Not sure if iPhone has a newer model coming out early 2011 or not?).
Looks like the Motorola Olympus (Also referred to as "Droid Terminator"?) has leaked some images and specs. Pretty tempting so far. Also rumored AT&T will launch it first, which is fine because I currently have AT&T. Although, I wouldn't be opposed to dropping them for Verizon if necessary.
lmao droid terminator. everyone knows specs ain't shit. it's all in the OS, baby. and android is the best, period. peace.
Well it's an Adroid phone from Motorola (Same guys who make Droids), so not sure why it's the "Droid Terminator"?
also just a note: as with all top-end touchscreen phones, my desire HD is a HUGE battery hog. daily charge, not even joking. it's a beaut, though. and the only minor inconvenience in one of the best phones out right now.
I like my iPhone because the car repair and personal dictionary is amazing and I like the keypad much better. I had the phone for two years and never had problems with it.But that's only because mine is jailbroken, and I'm too lazy to upgrade the firmware. The problem is that it's just slower in performance. MobileSafari kind of browser. So I use other browser. I use my phone for music listening.
There are many smart phone available in market.I will suggest few of them.If you want to buy a Nokia smart phone than I will suggest you to buy new Nokia N8.The phone is very good apps support from ovi store. The phone has every multimedia feature dose a phone require.Second Phone I will suggest you is Android base new LG optimus which has run on latest android 2.2 OS.The phone has very cool application support. And If you want to buy best bussiness look phone with good feature than you can go with Blackberry.
I've owned both, and I love both for different reasons. I like the freedom from bullshit licensing agreements and SHSH keys and constant errors with the OS and proprietary crap left and right. But I love the design, the simplicity (of using it, nevermind anything else), the standardized hardware, and the ease of buying replacement parts. What I hate, is that programs are a sham on the iTunes store, Google store will give you a refund if you get fucked over. you can install 3rd party apps without having to jailbreak your android phone. however all the good games and some amazing apps are on iphone, so when you move to android, you feel like you're missing out. I have a Samsung Vibrant, so slowdowns are something I don't experience, ever. However 2.2 wasn't released for my phone yet, so i had to root it and replace the ROM thus voiding my warranty to get it, because I am fucking sick of waiting. Almost everything is better, but there is still a hole in my joys because there is no Tap Tap Revenge, there is no Need for Speed, and I have to rebuy all my other apps or their equivalents, and I miss intelliscreen quite badly, because the replacement for android is kinda shitty. However it appears there is more sense of community between application developers and iTunes store, I have to update my phone everyday because there are a billion app updates, so at least progress isn't dead and your balls are not constricted by bureaucracy.
Hey I just bought new Motorola MB200 mobile , its really great functional mobile, I like that Android application, Moto has to give me really every useful app. I love my mobile.
