I have talked to Dan Aykroyd when he showed up to one of the Houston ghostbusters club meeting. He was taking questions from the audience when someone asked him about GB3. He said "The script is done. (probably the script that was mentioned in your article) We are just waiting for a studio to pick it up. In fact, Ecto-3 has been built already." That got cheers from the crowd. I will be seeing it at the first showing, no matter what.
It's common knowledge that what was supposed to be Ghostbusters 3 got chopped up and reworked into Ghostbusters: The Video Game, which I still think was great and it reverted back to the orginial concept of having the Ghostbusters being franchised out. Signourney Weaver is still unsigned but has said she's confident she'll be back for this one, she did let it slip during press for Avatar that Venkman would be a ghost (that's been going around for a number of years now) and that a grown up Oscar would be one of the new Ghostbusters. Rick Moranis is retired and Annie Potts isn't confirmed either. More recent scripting called for a female leader to the team so supposedly Eliza Dushku and Anna Faris remain in the rumor mill, and even with that said the Ben Stiller rumors haven't been killed even after all these years.

Can't be any worse than Indy 4, right? (and Indy 4, while a big letdown, in itself wasn't horrible, so what's there to lose especially after GB2)
See just based on this can we now stop with the Indy 4 analogies, they're beyond played out. This could, and to be honest should, be good especially if it's the original crew on board, and again I think the recent video game re-ephasizes the point. And while the second movie was critically reamed for the most part, the majority of the public enjoyed it and it's heald the test of time, odds are Iron Man 2 won't be able to say that.
I am so, so excited about this movie. I love the Ghostbusters franchise, even the atrocity that is Ghostbusters 2 (it really isn't that bad, but it completely disregarded the things that made Ghostbusters so great. Not exactly a topic for this thread, however). Just like I was excited about Indiana Jones 4 (GAG), I'm excited about this movie and I will probably go see a midnight screening. I thought I read a few days ago that Bill Murray has a copy of the script now? Totally possible that he still hasn't read it yet, though. Anyone else hear the rumor that Michael Cera may be cast as Oscar? While I'm all for bringing Oscar back (the rookie Ghostbusters plot seems like a good idea to me, in light of the video game), I'm shocked that he would even be considered. He's popular now, but he doesn't have any staying power. Also, his face is weird.
2 is not a bad movie! I accept that it's not as good as the first one was but it was still a good movie!
Now why'd you have to go and bring Iron Man 2 into this? It has one of best cinematic lines of 2010: "I vant my boirt" Seriously it was a decent film you meanie
It's going to pale in comparison to the first and it won't have the logevity, plus there was a reason why it rated so highly on a number of "Biggest Movie Disapointments Of The Year" lists, when you're hyped as one of the most anticipated movies of the summer that looks really bad in retrospect. And that line still cannot compete with this line - "Johnny where are you from?" "The Upper Vest Side."
BAHAHAHAHA. Almost chocked on carrot juice. I will take back what I said about Ghostbusters II. I don't really hate the movie, but my love for Ghostbusters is so blinding...
Ghostbusters 3 Doesn't Happen Without Bill Murray. Period. If this article is actually true and the studio actually does what it's claiming to do, then I think I'm happy about Bill Murray's decision either way.
Having Bill Murray in it will give it so much credence, I couldn't see it happening without him really. It was a good movie! It wasn't any worse than the first, it just failed to improve on it. Plus Justin Hammer was one of the best characters in film 2010.
I reiterate - it won't have the longevity the first one did, I realized that after watching it the second time, and when it's all said and done (this is assuming that 3 is better) it'll be the forgotten movie in the series.
