I was browsing some sites to get an idea of what would be some decent speakers to get for my new PC set up, and have noticed a lot are 2.0 or 2.1 systems. Plainly, what's the difference?
^ what joe said 2.0 will be 2 channels... so just plain ole stereo 2.1 will be stereo with a sub That goes for all speaker systems, as well. 5.1 surround is center, front left, front right, surround left, surround right, and sub. "surround left" and "surround right" are rear speakers. 7.1 is exactly the same except it adds in a side left and side right to the mix. I think they make some 5.2/7.2 systems also which would be 2 subs but is entirely 100% useless since bass is mono.
i've been using onboard audio for like 5 years right, but i have 5.1 speakers, well i bought a 5.1 sound card last night AND OMG bro let me tell you, i can hear shit bEHIND ME
